Mitsui has commissioned MAN Diesel & Turbo to supply a 50 MW steam turbine for a biomass power station in the Bay of Tokyo, owned and operated by special purpose company Ichihara Biomass Power Co Ltd. It is one of the largest biomass plants so far in Japan, and will run on wood pellets and palm kernel shells.
