Enercon-Vestas patent dispute

20 April 2007

Led by Aloys Wobben, Enercon claims that Vestas has infringed various patents primarily in the area of grid connection and has initiated court proceedings in England and Scotland, the Netherlands and most recently in Canada. No decisions have been announced in these cases, however, Vestas has revealed that court proceedings in Germany regarding other technical areas have largely supported the Danish case.

In cases trying the validity of Aloys Wobben’s patents on lightning protection and frequency control, Vestas has prevailed in two instances and is pending decisions from the Federal Supreme Court regarding procedural errors, it says.

In a similar case concerning oscillation, Vestas has prevailed in all three instances, the statement says.
