UK-Holland power link deal

27 May 2007

The $350 million project by National Grid in the UK and state-owned TenneT in the Netherlands will see ABB supply the underwater and underground cables and is ABB’s biggest ever cable order.

The 260 km-long BritNed link will allow energy trading between the two countries and increase the reliability of electricity supplies to both when it is commissioned in 2010.

“BritNed is another step towards an integrated electricity network for Europe,” said Peter Leupp, head of ABB’s Power Systems division.
