Statkraft Peru has selected Vestas to supply and install turbines for the 72 MW Emma Wind Farm in Peru’s Piura region, bringing Vestas’ 4 MW platform back to the country’s wind market.
The contract covers 16 V163-4.5 MW turbines, each with a hub height of 119 metres. Vestas is due to deliver the main turbine components in the second quarter of 2027, with commissioning scheduled for the first quarter of 2028.
Statkraft Peru is developing the project as a subsidiary of Norwegian state-owned energy company Statkraft. For Vestas, the order adds to more than a decade of activity in Peru, where the company currently operates and maintains 62 wind turbines with a combined installed capacity of 100 MW.
The Emma project comes as Peru seeks to expand its renewable generation capacity and diversify its electricity supply. Located in Piura in northern Peru, the wind farm will add further wind generation to a power system in which hydropower and natural gas currently account for significant shares of generation.
Andrés Gismondi, Vestas’ vice president of sales for the Southern Cone and Northern Latin America, said the project reflected the company’s expectations for the Peruvian market.

The order also marks Vestas’ return to Peru with its 4 MW platform. The company said its existing local operations and maintenance activities provide an established presence as the new project moves towards construction.
