The first turbine has been installed at the 128 MW Vinh Long nearshore wind project in Vietnam, marking the start of full-scale turbine installation at the development.
Envision is supplying 16 EN-226/8.X MW turbines for the two Vinh Long projects. The installation is also the Chinese turbine manufacturer’s first international offshore wind installation.
The first turbine was erected in less than seven days, with the second installed in under five days. The installation campaign has taken place during Vietnam’s period of heavy rainfall and strong winds, with typhoons and limited installation resources adding logistical challenges.
Envision signed the turbine supply contract with project developer REE Group in January 2026, with the first equipment delivered five months later. The EN-226 platform has been configured for nearshore conditions, with the manufacturer highlighting its relatively light nacelle and maintenance-oriented design as factors supporting installation and operation at coastal sites.
The Vinh Long development comprises the 48 MW V1-3 Phase II project and the 80 MW V1-5&6 Phase II project. The 16 turbines are now being installed in sequence, with full-scale construction continuing across the site.
The project is part of Vietnam’s expansion of wind generation under its Power Development Plan VIII and adds to a growing pipeline of larger-capacity turbines being deployed in coastal and nearshore locations.
Envision said the installation campaign is expected to continue through the remaining 14 turbines, with the projects scheduled for completion later this year.
The installation provides an early demonstration of the logistical requirements associated with deploying large-rotor turbines in Vietnam’s nearshore environment, where weather conditions, vessel availability and local installation capabilities can influence construction schedules.
