Leading rental supplier Aggreko has opened its first depot in India, located at Wagholi village in Pune. The depot represents part of Aggreko’s initial investment of INR 300 million in its India enterprise and will hlep meet the country’s growing demand for temporary power. Aggreko entered the Indian market earlier this year through the takeover of Cummins India Ltd’s power rental business.

The depot will provide temporary power for a wide range of industries as well as for major sporting events. Aggreko can also provide multi-megawatt power projects to help support the county’s rapid growth and to assist in overcoming capacity constraints.

Aggreko says that the Pune depot is its first step towards a significant presence throughout India. It intends to set up a multi-hub system with depots located in strategic cities across the country. Pune will service customers in western India, a Chennai depot will follow soon to take care of the southern market. Later the company plans to open service operations in Delhi and Kolkata by the end of 2010 to cater for customers in the north and east of India respectively. Its goal is no less than to become the only rental power supplier that can offer 24/7 service support anywhere in India, even at short notice.
