MHI and Thailand’s EGAT have signed an MoU to co-operate on research supporting the introduction of hydrogen co-firing for gas turbine based power generation facilities in Thailand.

The programme will start with a hydrogen co-firing pilot project at one of EGAT’s power plants in Thailand, with an initial feasibility study to be completed by March 2025. The aim will be to achieve a hydrogen co-firing level of 20%, at EGAT’s request.

The agreement extends an ongoing partnership between MHI and EGAT to focus on hydrogen co-firing, building on an MoU signed in 2022 to research and exchange information on lower carbon power generation.
