While nuclear new build projects in Europe and the USA are, to say the least, struggling, construction of the Barakah project in Abu Dhabi, which is employing Korean pressurised water reactor technology, seems to be making good progress.

Recent milestone events have included the installation of the pressure vessel and steam generators for unit 4 at Barakah, which is the world’s largest nuclear construction site.

Unit 4 is now more than 52% complete. Unit 1 is more than 96%, while unit 2 is more than 85%, and unit 3 is more than 75%. Overall, construction of the four units is now estimated to be more than 82% complete.
