Siemens Energy has won the contract to supply components for a new 150MW simple cycle power plant to be built in Rangpur, in northern Bangladesh, contributing to the country’s utility expansion in power generation.
Siemens is supplying components that will aid the plant’s optimal fuel usage in full and part load operation for long-term sustainability in clean energy production.
The components package includes one SGT5-2000E gas turbine, one SGen5-100A-2P generator and a long-term service agreement. This new plant is intended to shape a significant part of the country’s utility expansion in power generation, and towards a more visible higher efficiency and improved fuel usage.
The operational flexibility of the SGT5-2000E, with its fast load and fast start-up capability, is designed to meet the most stringent requirements for optimal frequency stabilisation. Therefore, in addition to electrification for the northern region, this plant is also expected to support international grid stabilisation between Bangladesh and India.
