Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (Adnoc) has signed an agreement to supply the emirate of Dubai with natural gas, according to Reuters. No further details of the deal have been released.

Adnoc had been negotiating with Dubai to supply up to 23 million cubic metres of gas each day, to be used in electricity generation, desalination and industrial facilities. Dubai has also held talks with Qatar and has finalized a deal with Total to reinject 2.8 million cubic metres per day of gas from Iran’s Sirri field into Dubai’s declining offshore fields.

Last month Adnoc said it was proceeding with plans to develop an offshore gas field at Khuff. The $1 billion development will supply gas to a new power station as well as providing gas for Dubai.

The Khuff reservoir lies under the Abu Al Bukhoosh oilfield, an extension of Qatar’s North Field and of the Iranian Salman Field.
