Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd. has awarded Amec Foster Wheeler a contract for the design and supply of two CFB steam generators for a new power plant under construction in the Philippines.

Under the contract, Amec Foster Wheeler will design and supply two 150 MWe for the plant’s boiler island and provide on-site technical advisory services. Commercial operation of the plant, located in the central province of Cebu, is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018.

Hyundai and local firm Galing Power Energy Co. are building the plant for Therma Visayas, a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power. The project is part of Aboitiz’s plans to add 2000 MW to its portfolio over five years.
