The entire reactor protection system at the Westinghouse-built Beznau pressurised water reactor in Switzerland has been upgraded by the Franco-German company Framatome. The contract, awarded by Nordost- schweizerische Kernkraftwerke AG in 1998, involved work on both units at Beznau during scheduled refuelling outages in 2000 and 2001. Framatome installed the Siemens-developed Teleperm XS digital protection system in each unit.
