SolarDuck has been awarded a contract for what it believes will be the world´s largest hybrid offshore floating solar power plant, to be located at the offshore wind park Hollandse Kust West VII, off the coast of The Netherlands, following a winning bid by RWE´s subsidiary Oranje Wind Power II.

The HKW  hybrid offshore wind and solar project is due to become operational in 2026. The contract award follows a collaboration agreement signed between SolarDuck and RWE in July this year, with SolarDuck being selected as the exclusive provider for offshore floating solar (´OFS´) technology at the project. The successful bid will materialise a hybrid OFS power plant at scale. SolarDuck´s CEO Koen Burgers stated: “This is a flagship project for SolarDuck  …  SolarDuck, being the first to build a hybrid project at this scale, will demonstrate the robustness of our solution, prove the important role of system integration in building future-fit energy systems, and enable the scaling of the technology to accelerate its adoption.”
