DOE revises safety rule The US DoE has revised a 50-year standard for nuclear workers’ exposure to beryllium, and directed contractors to screen for early detection. The programme will cost $31.5 million a year, and requires contractors to use strict controls to minimise exposure. Full compliance must occur within two years.
