The European Investment Bank (EIB) has provided an additional €150m (US$174m) of financing for the Kelmė wind farm in Lithuania, bringing its total support for the project to €250m (US$290m).
The 314 MW site, developed by Ignitis Renewables, is the largest operating wind farm in the Baltic region and has been in full commercial operation since June 2025.
The extra loan takes the EIB’s share to almost half of the project’s €550m (US$638m) cost.
The wind farm is expected to strengthen Lithuania’s energy security by reducing reliance on imported energy and increasing domestic renewable power generation.
The project also fits into the EU’s broader REPowerEU agenda by delivering large-scale, subsidy-free clean power in the Baltics.
Ignitis Group said the financing underlines confidence in its strategy and the value of long-term partnerships with international lenders as it continues to grow its renewable portfolio across the region.
