Australian company Energy Equity Corp. has announced plans for a 18 MW wind farm in the Australian state of Victoria. The project, to be built at Cape Bridgewater and Cape Nelson, has won the approval of the local shire council but still awaits authorization from the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
The wind farm is expected to comprise 30 turbines, each with a rated output of 600 kW. The turbines will be spaced 400 m apart.
Energy Equity believes the two sites represent some of the best wind sites in Australia. The company expects to make a 30 per cent equity investment in the project, raising the remaining funding through commercial loans.
It is hoping to sell the power as green electricity at a price of approximately $0.07/kWh, significantly higher than the current pool price of around $0.02/kWh. However, the company expects the wind project to prove commercially viable.
