E.On has signed an agreement to join Engie and EDPR in the Dunkerque Eoliennes en Mer offshore wind energy consortium.

The agreement marks E.On’s move into the French renewable energy market, the German company said in a statement.

The Dunkerque Eoliennes en Mer consortium is planning to place a bid for the 600 MW Dunkirk offshore wind zone in the English Channel off northern France. E.On has been working as a technical advisor on the development of the project for two years.

EDPR ehief operating officer Spyridon Martinis said the German company’s involvement “reinforces the technical excellence” of the bid.

Nine other bidders are expected to compete for the Dunkirk offshore wind zone alongside the Dunkerque Eoliennes en Mer consortium.
