Everllence has introduced a new high-speed generator set designed to provide backup power for data centres, targeting the growing demand for reliable electricity supplies driven by artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure expansion.
The new 175D GenSet delivers 2.4 MW of standby power, equivalent to 3 MVA, and has been engineered for rapid and stable load acceptance in line with ISO 8528-5 requirements. The unit is intended to support data centres where power interruptions can have significant operational and financial consequences.
The launch comes as operators worldwide invest in additional resilience measures to manage rising electricity demand from cloud computing and AI workloads. While many facilities are connected to utility networks, backup generation remains a critical component of data centre design to maintain availability during grid disturbances or maintenance periods.
Everllence said the 175D is based on its existing high-speed engine platform, which has more than 15 years of development experience behind it. The engine is manufactured in Europe, with production carried out in Germany and Denmark. Key components, including the engine block, turbochargers and cylinder heads, are produced in-house.
The company has also integrated its SaCoS 5000 engine control system, designed to provide advanced monitoring and cybersecurity features. Everllence said this approach allows operators to manage critical backup assets with greater confidence as digital infrastructure becomes increasingly interconnected.
The standardised GenSet can be installed in containerised solutions and is designed for 50 Hz grid applications. Its compact footprint and high power density are intended to support deployment where space is limited, while electrically driven cooling systems help maintain operation across a range of environmental conditions.
The unit is capable of running on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and is prepared for future methanol use, offering operators potential pathways to reduce emissions from backup generation.
Everllence said the 175D expands its data centre offering, complementing its medium-speed engines used for primary power applications. The company operates a global service network with more than 140 PrimeServ locations supporting maintenance, spare parts and operational support.
As data centre developers face increasing pressure to secure dependable and lower-carbon energy supplies, manufacturers are developing generator technologies that combine rapid response, fuel flexibility and long-term reliability.
