GE Vernova has secured an order from Vietnam Electricity (EVN) for two 9HA.02 gas turbines and two H78 generators for the Quang Trach II LNG Power Plant in Vietnam. The plant is expected to produce more than 1.6 GW of electricity and begin commercial operations by 2030.
The project is being developed by EVN with an EPC consortium of Power Construction Corporation of China and LILAMA Corporation. Located in the Hon La Economic Zone, Quang Tri Province, it will use imported LNG that is regasified and burned in a combined-cycle setup to improve efficiency and support more flexible power generation.
GE Vernova said the deal builds on its long relationship with EVN and its wider presence in Vietnam, where it has supported the country’s power system since the early 1990s.
The announcement comes as GE Vernova’s HA turbine fleet surpassed 4 million commercial operating hours worldwide.
The 9HA.02 gas turbines are among the company’s most advanced and efficient gas turbine technologies and are engineered to help provide flexible and dispatchable generation that can complement the increasing share of renewable energy in the grid.
