Capstone Turbine Corp has completed its first standalone 60kW microturbine power system. The initial unit, one of a 6-pack of stand alone units, will be deployed by the company’s UK distribution partner, Advantica. The stand-alone system is able to start itself with its integrated energy storage system and can switch between grid-connected and stand-alone modes. The company’s 30kW model 330 systems have offered this feature for nearly two years. Advantica plans to install the units at a hotel development. Heat from the generators will be used for water heating, space heating and in laundry services.
