A fuel cell power plant of the Hot Module type is to be installed in the Rhön clinic in Bad Neustadt next year, the first time a fuel cell will be used in a clinical application, its developers claim. The power plant is being constructed and installed by MTU Friedrichshafen using fuel stacks from its US partner Fuel Cell Corp. The natural gas fired module will supply heat and power to part of the clinic – 250 kWe and 170 kWh in the form of high pressure steam.
