22 January marked the opening of the new power line, IFA2, linking France and England, after 33 months of construction and 3 months of testing. Players in the electricity market can now exchange energy by passing it through the interconnector. This new line will allow France and England in particular to facilitate the use of renewable energies, to support each other in the event of unforeseen events (bad weather, technical incidents), to save money for the community by taking advantage of the complementarity of existing and future production parks on both sides of the Channel and the North Sea. The line is also expected to contribute to securing the electricity supply of the two countries.
