India’s Solar Energy Corporation (SECI) has issued an expression of interest (EOI) invitation for the development of 2 GW of large-scale solar power projects.
SECI, the government-owned organization in charge of India’s flagship Jawaharial Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), wants firms to bid for contracts for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of solar projects of 250-500 MW in size. It says its "model partners" would be companies already experienced in the construction of large-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects.
The EOI is part of India’s longer-term plan to build 97 GW of solar power capacity by 2022.
SECI has not indicated where the projects would be located but says that successful bidders would be responsible for arranging land leasing for the solar projects and transmission corridors. The 500 MW projects would be given 30 months for development and construction and the 250 MW projects 24 months, it said.
