National Power has announced details of its strategy for demerging into Innogy Holdings, under which UK operations will be conducted, and International Power.

Innogy will include: 7700 MWe of capacity; npower, the 2.6 million customer electricity and gas retail business, built from MEB, Energy Direct and Calortex; a cogeneration and renewables business; an engineering and operations business; and a technology business, including Regenesys, the fuel cell-based energy storage system. Commercial demonstration units are planned for Little Barford (15 MWe) and at a TVA site.
