Libya is expanding its generating capacity with mobile power solutions.
Emergency power provider APR Energy has announced that it has been contracted to add 200 MW to an existing contract in Libya.
The deal will bring the emergency power contract to 450 MW, the single largest contract ever signed in the fast-track power industry, says the US-based company.
APR Energy will provide a gas turbine-based mobile power solution. The additional generating capacity will help Libya to cover anticipated power demand during the critical summer high heat season as well as provide power while the country continues to rebuild and improve its infrastructure.
APR Energy has so far won 553 MW of new contracts this year, compared with 569 MW of contract wins in the whole of 2012.
The company provides fast-track mobile power solutions based on gas turbine and diesel engine technology on a turnkey basis in markets around the world.
