US company Pavilion Technologies has signed a strategic licensing agreement with Alstom Power which will allow Alstom to sell Pavilion’s coal-plant optimisation technology, called Power Perfecter, in China. As part of the three year deal, Alstom will install Power Perfecter in 225 coal-fired power generation plants.
The controller is claimed simultaneously to improve efficiency, minimise cost and reduce environmental emissions. It learns from historical data and automatically adjusts boiler performance, improving heat rate by up to 2 per cent while reducing NOx emissions by up to 15 per cent.
