Thermal power plant constructor Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems has decided to combine its operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, to create a single integrated unit, MHPS-EU, with ‘an extensive competence in all thermal power generating fields’. The head of the company will be engineer Mr Oliver Klitzke, who was appointed CEO on 1 August.
The company will continue in the thermal power plant business (principally in gas and coal-fired technology) and is expected to have a stronger offering to customers in energy plant construction brought about by additional products, leaner structures and more efficient project management.
Some 2000 staff are employed in MHPS-EU companies in the EMEA area. Mr Klitzke commented: “As a regionally aligned and European-managed company [MHPS-EU] would support its customers in Europe’s changing energy landscape while exploring new opportunities in more developing energy markets in Eastern Europe and North Africa. The integrated operation is part of the global corporate strategy of Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, which aims to become No. 1 globally in the construction of thermal power plants.”
