Mott MacDonald has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Cambridge Atomworks to accelerate the development of its advanced microreactor technology. Cambridge Atomworks is one of the very few UK-based nuclear engineering companies developing a UK-designed advanced microreactor, regarded as a strategic capability for the UK’s future clean energy mix and export competitiveness. Mott MacDonald will provide its technical support and advice in nuclear engineering, safety and licensing, project delivery, systems integration and digital engineering and visualisation.
Cambridge Atomworks, which has links with the University of Cambridge and UK research institutions, specialises in compact, rapidly deployable fission systems designed for off-grid and hard to reach applications. It is developing the ODIN microreactor for deployment globally, starting in the UK, positioning it as one of the UK’s few dedicated microreactor developers. Mott MacDonald delivers integrated, innovative nuclear solutions for large-scale and complex facilities worldwide.
