The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) has awarded £1.2 million to five UK companies through the second round of its Manufacturing Facility Support Programme (MFSP). The funding aims to accelerate investment in new and expanded manufacturing sites to meet growing demand for offshore wind components and systems.
King Site Services (SW) Ltd, Mainstay Marine Solutions, Marine Power Systems, Peterhead Energy Service Base Ltd (part of MDL), and PPI Engineering Ltd have each received a share of the grant. Their projects range from developing floating wind platform fabrication and cable handling centres to expanding turbine generator repair facilities and lay-down yards for large equipment.
The MFSP offers matched funding of up to £500,000 per project to help firms progress early-stage plans toward major investment decisions. Each successful project is expected to attract at least £5 million in capital investment within two years, and generate £5 million in annual revenue.
Tom Piper, OWGP Project Manager, said the programme supports strong projects at a critical stage, helping companies scale up their manufacturing capacity and invest with confidence. Lynne McIntosh-Grieve, Head of Programme Delivery, added that the initiative bridges the gap between development and major capital funding, enabling businesses to move from planning to production readiness.
According to OWGP Non-Executive Director Iain Sinclair, MFSP has now supported 10 companies across two funding rounds, laying the groundwork for a stronger, more resilient domestic supply chain. The organisation says the latest awards mark another significant step toward meeting the UK’s offshore wind goals for 2030 and beyond.
The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) is the UK’s leading not-for-profit organisation funding and supporting offshore wind supply chain growth. Established by the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) under the 2019 Sector Deal, it accelerates UK capability, jobs, and exports – funded by OWIC’s private members. Since June 2025, OWGP serves as Delivery Body for the Offshore Wind Industrial Growth Plan (launched in April 2024).
