Fong Wan, vice president of energy procurement said: “PG&E intends to sign contracts equalling 1-2% of its demand in order to achieve a 20% renewable power goal by 2010.”

The utility currently supplies 12% of its energy from qualifying renewable sources and the offer marks the company’s fifth since the RPS legislation came into law in 2002. Since then, contracts for over 1,000 MW of renewable power have been signed.

A bidders conference is scheduled for 3 April and offers are due on 31 May.
