Revolution Wind, the first large-scale offshore wind farm for Rhode Island and Connecticut and the nation’s first multi-state offshore wind project, has completed installation of its first offshore turbine.
The project, developed by Ørsted and Eversource, will include 65 Siemens Gamesa 11-megawatt turbines with a total capacity of 704 megawatts (MW) – 400 MW for Rhode Island and 304 MW for Connecticut. Once operational in 2026, it will supply clean power to more than 350,000 homes.
Revolution Wind is expected to support about 1,200 jobs and represents more than $200 million in infrastructure upgrades across three key ports: State Pier in New London, ProvPort in Providence, and Quonset Point in North Kingstown. Offshore construction includes turbine foundations, substations, and cabling, with more than three-quarters of foundations already installed.
Located 15 miles south of Rhode Island and 32 miles southeast of Connecticut, Revolution Wind is a central part of the Northeast’s clean energy expansion.
