Sharp has announced the expansion of its solar energy solutions business to the African continent. The solar sector in Africa, says the company, is an important part of its strategic worldwide diversification plan into areas where access to energy is challenging for so many people. Sharp is introducing its industry leading range of 12 photovoltaic modules and various battery storage solutions which are now available to all customers across Africa.
The growing population of Africa is already putting a strain on existing energy sources. Coupled with a changing climate and longer dry seasons in many countries, the reliance on fossil fuel and hydropower is not sustainable in the long term. Solar PV panels offer a solution thanks to the speed and ease of deployment, and the abundance of sunlight.
Customers across the African continent will have access to Sharp¹s full range of energy solutions and services suitable for residential, commercial and industrial use. Its range of PV modules covers polycrystalline, monocrystalline and back contact technology with modules ranging from 48 and 60 to 72 cells with panels ranging fro 270W to 330W.
Sharp¹s polycrystalline PV panels are particularly attractive for the African market, it believes, owing to their competitive price/performance ratio.
