SUNOTEC and Sungrow have signed a strategic agreement to deploy 2.4 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across multiple solar power projects in Europe, with a particular focus on Bulgaria.
This collaboration supports SUNOTEC’s long-term strategy to accelerate the integration of flexible and intelligent energy storage solutions into its solar infrastructure portfolio.
The 2.4 GWh storage capacity will enhance grid stability, facilitate better integration of renewable energy, and increase the reliability of solar parks developed by SUNOTEC throughout Bulgaria and wider Europe.
Several large-scale projects in the portfolio will be supported by Bulgaria’s RESTORE national support program and are expected to be flagship installations showcasing some of the largest and most advanced energy storage systems in the country and Europe.
Sungrow will supply its PowerTitan 2.0 BESS solution, known globally for utility-scale performance, along with the SG350HX-20 string inverter and Modular Voltage Station (MVS) for hybrid photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage projects.
This agreement marks the first deployment of Sungrow’s BESS technology in Bulgaria.
SUNOTEC’s founder and CEO, Kaloyan Velichkov, highlighted the importance of intelligent energy management in the global energy transition, noting that the partnership reflects their shared ambition to lead the next chapter of clean energy by building resilient, storage-enabled infrastructure that brings stability and sustainability to European markets.
Anastasios Gkinis, Sungrow’s regional director for Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe and the CIS, described the partnership as a cornerstone for accelerating clean energy deployment in Bulgaria and Europe, combining Sungrow’s advanced technology with SUNOTEC’s execution capabilities to redefine the regional energy landscape.
Additionally, in July 2025, SUNOTEC completed the acquisition of a 400 MWp solar and 600 MWh battery storage project in Latvia from Danish Sun Energy, further expanding its portfolio of advanced renewable assets in Europe.
