The Sunrise power plant has entered service in California, one month ahead of schedule. The simple cycle gas-fired power plant comprises two GE 7FA gas turbines with a combined generating capacity of 320 MW.

The plant is a joint venture between Edison Mission Energy and Texaco Power and Gasification. Black and Veatch provided engineering, procurement and construction services for the project. The company claims the project is the first major power plant to enter sercive in California in a decade.
