Unión Fenosa has won the international tender to privatise Moldova’s five electricity distributors.
All companies in Moldavan distribution sector were grouped into three packages; Red Chisinau with Red Centru; Red Nord with Red Nord-Vest; and Red Sud. Unión Fenosa has until the start of March to close the transaction to buy 100 per cent of two of these, one of which must be Red Sud. The package Unión Fenosa does not pick will be decalred void, and a fresh tender announced to privatise it.
Unión Fenosa submitted the following bids: l For Red Chisinau and Red Centru, $20.2 million, with a five-year plan to invest $57 million.
l For Red Nord and Red Nord, $15.3 million, with a five-year plan to invest $47.5 million.
l For Red Sud, $5.1 million, with a five-year plan to invest $13 million.
