Uzbekistan is looking for developers interested in building up to 400 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity.
The government has issued a request for Expressions of Interest (EoI) from private sector companies to develop, finance, build and operate two 200 MW solar PV farms.
One of the projects will be installed in the Kattakurgan district of Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region, while the second one is planned for Gallaorol district, in Jizzakh region, according to an announcement made by the Ministry of Energy.
The two projects are part of a drive to boost renewable energy in the country, including an initiative to build 900 MW of PV capacity through public-private partnerships. The World Bank’s International Finance Corp (IFC) is assisting the Uzbek government to develop the programme and the tender structuring.
Uzbekistan has already issued an EoI for a 200 MW solar farm in Surkhandarya province.
