Vestas has signed contracts to supply three large wind projects in Argentina and the USA, and has been selected, and has signed an agreement, as preferred supplier for a 495 MW floating offshore wind project in South Korea. If the project materialises, Vestas will supply and install 33 units of the V236-15.0 MW turbine for the project.
In the last week the company has also signed contracts for three large projects in the Americas. It has secured 162 MW order with Genneia for the La Elbita project in the Province of Buenos Aires, in Argentina. The project will feature 36 V150-4.5 MW wind turbines which Vestas will supply and install. Upon completion, Vestas will also deliver a 25-year ‘Active Output Management 5000’ (AOM 5000) service agreement. This agreement is designed to optimise energy production while providing long-term business case certainty.
Also in Argentina Vestas has received a firm order from YPF Luz for the supply and installation of 25 V162-6.2 MW EnVentus wind turbines for the 155 MW General Levalle wind park in the province of Córdoba. This will be the first project in Argentina to feature turbines from Vestas’ EnVentus platform. Upon completion, Vestas will also deliver a 25-year AOM 5000 service agreement.
In the USA the company has received an order for two wind projects totalling 370 MW to repower the 213 MW Pleasant Valley and the 146 MW Border Winds projects owned by Xcel Energy.
The Pleasant Valley, Minnesota order consists of 97 V110-2.0 MW wind turbines delivered in 2.2 MW operating mode, while the 156 MW Border Winds project, located in North Dakota, consists of 71 V110-2.0 MW wind turbines also delivered in 2.2 MW operating mode, to update the current V100-2.0 MW technology at both sites.
