The deal covers replacement of the electromechanical equipment at the plant, including delivery of seven 6.7 MW Kaplan turbines, together with generators and governors as well as the complete control package. The new Kaplan units will replace seven Francis turbines which began operations as early as 1915, the new equipment will be in place by 2012.

Uprating the turbines increases the flow rate from 385 m³/s to 500 m³/s and is expected to improve performance by about a third from 246 GWh to 314.5 GWh annually.
