The Netherlands public utility Provinciale Noordbrabantse Energie-Maatschappij is to build a biomass fired power plant in Cuijk, 40 km northeast of Eindhoven. The turnkey contract for construction of the project has been awarded to Siemens under a contract worth around $44 million.
The biomass plant will burn waste timber supplied by the forestry commission. It will consume 250 000 t each year. Electrical generating capacity will be 25 MW. Startup is scheduled for the middle of next year.
