Three Gorges begins right bank production

18 June 2007

The turbine is the first of the 12 turbines on the right bank, the installation of which began last June and is expected to be completed next year. No. 26 turbine, also on the right bank, is currently undergoing final pre-operation checks.

The Three Gorges Project is expected to start full operation three to four months ahead of schedule as workers speed up the installation of the right bank turbines.

The 14 turbines on the left bank of the Gorges project began operation in September 2005.
