• Californian company SierraPine Ltd has ordered two VPS3 gas turbine generator sets from Vericor Power Systems for a 6 MW cogeneration plant in Medford, Oregon. The power plant will supply around 50 per cent of SierraPine’s electrical load for its fibreboard manufacturing facility in Medford. Exhaust from the gas turbines will be used to dry wood fibre. The company is in the final stages of securing environmental and construction permits for the cogeneration installation. The VPS3 generator set incorporates an ASE40 3MW gas turbine manufactured by Honeywell Engines and Systems in Phoenix, Arizona.
