The Baltic Power project, a joint venture between ORLEN Group and Northland Power, has completed the first successful installation of a 15 MW offshore wind turbine at Poland’s inaugural offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea. In total, 76 V236-15 turbines – among the largest in Europe and supplied by Vestas – will be installed, with commissioning expected in 2026.

Once operational, the 1.2 GW farm will generate enough electricity to cover 3% of Poland’s national demand, powering more than 1.5 million households.

Key components, including turbine nacelles, are being manufactured locally, and the installation is being managed by the vessel Wind Osprey, specially upgraded for the task.

The project marks a major step in Poland’s energy transition and is the first in the country to reach this advanced stage of offshore wind construction.
