A major onshore wind repowering project in the Netherlands has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Eneco.
SwifterwinT is developing a 61-unit Windplanblauw wind farm in the Dutch province of Flevoland, replacing 74 older turbines at the site that have been operating since the late 1990s.
Under the PPA, Dutch utility Eneco will buy the output from the project’s 37 land-based wind turbines for 15-years, with deliveries starting in 2023.
The contract will cover the electricity consumption of around 275 000 households, Eneco said.
“The collaboration with SwifterwinT is a great step in the further realization of Eneco’s strategy,” said Mark Belloni, director of Eneco Energy Trade . “This contract enables us to switch even more customers in Flevoland and the rest of the Netherlands to sustainable domestic energy.
“By contracting this wind farm, Eneco’s sustainable wind portfolio will grow to approximately 2500 MW installed capacity in 2023.”
Source4Energy and Windunie advised SwifterwinT on the PPA project. The contract was worked on in recent months together with the PPA team of Eneco Energy Trade. The entire process coincided with the Corona Lockdown and was entirely realized via digital communication, Eneco added.
