Enterprize Energy has unveiled plans for a 3.4 GW offshore wind farm in Vietnam.

The Ke Ga wind farm will be developed off the southern coast of Vietnam in several 600 MW phases, the firm says.

The cost of the project, located in Binh Thuan province, will reach $12 billion. It will feature 9.5 MW wind turbines supplied by Mitsubishi Vestas Offshore Wind, a joint venture (JV) of Vestas Wind System and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

The project will form part of Vietnam’s plans to develop 18 GW of renewable energy capacity, including 6 GW of wind, by 2030. Enterprize’s project partners will include Vienamese companies Petroleum Equipment Assembly & Metal Structure (PVC–MS) and Vietnam-Russia Oil and Gas Joint Venture (Vietsovpetro).

Construction of the first phase of the wind farm is due to start in 2020-21.
