Exergy International has secured a contract to supply a 33 MWe geothermal power plant for Maren Maraş Elektrik Üretim A.Ş., part of Kipaş Holding Group, in Germencik, Aydın, Türkiye. The Mehmet Ege plant is expected to enter operation in the second half of 2027.

The project will use Exergy’s Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology and a geothermal resource at about 160°C to provide renewable baseload generation. It will feature two turbines using Exergy’s Radial Outflow Turbine technology, including a 29 MW unit that the company says will be its largest turbine supplied to date.

Exergy will provide engineering and design, equipment manufacturing and delivery, and technical support during installation and commissioning. The turbines, generators and ancillary equipment will be manufactured and assembled at Exergy’s Turkish workshop, allowing the equipment to qualify for Made in Türkiye certification.

The contract is Exergy’s fourth repeat order from Maren, taking the geothermal capacity awarded to the company by Maren to 129 MWe. Including a separate 12 MW plant supplied to Kiper Elektrik Üretim, another Kipaş Holding company, Exergy’s projects for the group total 141 MWe.

The order also expands Exergy’s presence in Türkiye, where it says it has secured contracts for 29 power plants across different applications.

“The Mehmet Ege project also represents a defining milestone in our technological evolution, featuring the largest Radial Outflow Turbine ever supplied by Exergy,” said Luca Pozzoni, deputy CEO of Exergy International.

Erdoğan Arpacı, general manager of Exergy Türkiye, said the company’s local manufacturing and supply chain capabilities would support both domestic and international geothermal projects.
