The first three jacket foundations for the 1.1 GW Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm have arrived at the Port of Leith, Scotland. These three-legged lattice steel structures will support part of the project’s 72 turbines across the 150 km2 Firth of Forth site, located 15 km off the Angus coast.
Fabricated by COOEC-Fluor Heavy Industries (CFHI), the 2,050-2,250 tonne jackets form 18 of the wind farm’s 72 Vestas V236‑15.0 MW turbines. CFHI is also supplying 24 monopile transition pieces, complementing XXL monopiles in shallower areas, with designs tailored to seabed conditions and North Sea wind and wave loads.
The jackets are designed for water depths above 55 metres, while the monopiles cover depths from 34-64 metres. Heavy-lift vessel Seaway Alfa Lift will install the jackets onto pre-driven pin piles, clearing the way for turbine installation by late 2026.
Onshore, the wind farm will connect to SSEN Transmission’s national grid via infrastructure in East Lothian, enabling clean electricity to reach homes and businesses across Scotland.
Owned by Red Rock Power and ESB, Inch Cape is now in construction, with full operations targeted for 2027. Offshore installation of all 72 turbines is expected to begin toward the end of 2026, as the project progresses toward completion.
