Siemens Gamesa has appointed former Aker Solutions chief technology officer Parisa Bardouni as its new senior vice president and head of nacelle technology, bringing an executive with extensive experience in large-scale energy engineering into the turbine manufacturer’s senior leadership team.
The appointment was reported on 2 September, shortly after Aker Solutions announced a change at the top of its organisation.
In her new role, Bardouni will oversee nacelle technology, a key area in the development and industrialisation of Siemens Gamesa’s wind turbine platforms. The nacelle houses the main drivetrain and associated electrical and control equipment, making its design, manufacturing and reliability critical to turbine performance, production efficiency and project costs.
She joins Siemens Gamesa as the company continues efforts to improve its financial and operational performance. The turbine manufacturer recently reported its first profitable quarter in four years, according to Recharge, marking an important milestone in its turnaround.
The appointment adds engineering and energy sector expertise to Siemens Gamesa’s nacelle leadership at a challenging time for the wind industry. Turbine manufacturers are under increasing pressure to develop larger and more capable machines while controlling manufacturing complexity, improving reliability and keeping costs under control.
