Engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald has appointed Peter Grossmann and Dr Thorsten Rösner to lead the development of its energy transition business in Germany, based at the company’s newly opened DĂ¼sseldorf office.

The appointments cover the consultancy’s work across electricity networks and power generation as it expands its presence in the German market.

Grossmann brings experience in the energy industry, having held senior roles in business development, engineering, research and development, customer service and manufacturing at Siemens, Siemens Energy and RCM Technologies. His work has spanned Germany, France and the United States.

Rösner has more than 25 years of international experience in consulting, business development and operational management across environmental and engineering services. He has held senior positions at TAUW, WSP, Bureau Veritas and AECOM, leading multidisciplinary teams and managing business units serving corporate and international clients in Germany and other European markets.

Claudio Tassistro, Mott MacDonald’s managing director of energy for Europe, said Germany presented challenges around project consenting, delivery and the reuse of industrial land.

He said the appointments would bring together environmental, engineering and advisory expertise to support clients working on energy projects in Germany and across Europe.

The expansion comes as Germany continues to develop its electricity infrastructure and adapt its energy system, creating requirements for engineering and consultancy services across generation, networks and the redevelopment of former industrial sites.

Mott MacDonald operates internationally across engineering, management and development consultancy. The DĂ¼sseldorf office will provide a base for Grossmann and Rösner to develop client relationships and grow the company’s energy-related work in Germany.
