Japan and South Korea have recently held talks on the implemention of a multilateral project for providing nuclear power reactors to North Korea.
Meanwhile, the US envoy Charles Kartman has presented South Korea with reports of a US inspection of what Washington had originally feared was a North Korean nuclear weapons complex. The analysis revealed nothing that might indicate that North Korea had violated a pledge it had made to freeze its nuclear programmes in exchange for fuel oil and safer nuclear power plants.
