Three offshore wind projects totalling 1.65 GW have signed grid connection agreements with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines ahead of the country’s first fixed-bottom offshore wind auction.

The projects – the 450 MW Frontera Bay, 600 MW Guimaras Strait, and 600 MW Guimaras Strait II – are being developed by Seawind Asia, Stream Invest Holdings, and Triconti ECC Renewables. They have secured approval of technical conditions and transmission arrangements required to link the projects to the national grid. These agreements enable the projects to participate in the Fifth Green Energy Auction (GEA-5), which was launched on 25 November 2025 and offers 3.3 GW of capacity.

GEA-5 is expected to support power supply delivery between 2028 and 2030. Originally initiated by the Triconti Windkraft Group under a 2020 contract with the Department of Energy (DOE) – Philippines, the projects are now moving forward through the competitive auction framework following clarifications issued in January 2026 regarding implementation timelines and procedures.

Along with the three projects now awarded grid connection, the consortium is also developing offshore wind farms in Aparri Bay and San Miguel Bay.

The approvals comply with DOE requirements that grid connection arrangements be secured before projects can qualify for auction participation, positioning the consortium to compete in what regulators describe as a landmark auction round for offshore wind development in the Philippines.
